Today's review is of a popular restaurant in Montgomery County Maryland called "Chef Tony's". Our group dined at the Rockville, MD location.
First off the staff and patrons were nice. We even met Chef Tony himself who was a pleasure. The food was very good. I wouldn't say out of this world but it's definitely worth eating at more than once.
The surf and turf wasn't what I expected. And while the shrimp and scallops were excellent, the steak was too salty and way too chewy. The stuffed salmon was delicious and definitely a winner. Crab cake was on point. The Seafood Stew was excellent as was the Seafood Paella. All in all the experience was a 3.7 out 5. We will definitely come back. ❤️
Note: We don't recommend trying the appetizers "beef ravioli" or the "crab stuffed mushrooms". It was plated nicely but the taste was average and not worth the price.
Both locations are awesome. Especially with the high costs of everything these days. Chef Tony and his wonderful wife are flat out the best chef's in the area BAR NONE! They also have a great staff and I don't care what anyone says, I haven't had food this good, fresh and wonderful in decades. I implore you all to give this restaurant a try. You will not be disappointed. Their brunch and dinner options are to die for. Take if from someone that knows great food. THIS IS IT!!
Very good linguini with clams and fried zucchini. The pasta was cooked correctly, with an emulsified sauce, perfect amount of heat from the chili flakes, great flavor of fresh parsley, and sweet juicy clams. The basil aoili served with the zucchini and fried oysters was also great. Nothing was greasy or oversalted. Complimentary grated parmigiano reggiano was offered and brought to the table. The prices seem reasonable for the amount of seafood served to you.
Edit: my second visit was great too. The mussels appetizer was very good. The use of beans and a broth that isn't too greasy or salty created a good soup to have after eating the mussels. The lobster was the real star of the show. It was the best, juiciest lobster I ever had with tons of meat, and they accommodated my request not to precrack it. The vegetables and potatoes served were it were a perfect accompaniment.
