Jonny B.'s Tavern Rome

The Rennie's have truly revitalized this location (the former Okey Dokey's)! My first impression was a simple, clean restaurant/tavern with a cozy Adirondack theme. It's easy to see this is a family run business from the friendly service and smiles. Everyone working here genuinely cares and does their best to ensure you have a wonderful experience. I started with the homemade chowder and have to say it was one of the most tasty soups I'd ever had. This isn't some soup out of a can or bag. It was homemade, fresh, and piping hot! I ordered the "Jonny B" sandwich which came highly recommended, and for good reason. It was light, crispy, and full of flavor. You could eat this for lunch, dinner, or over a couple cold beers at the bar. My side was sweet potato fries with a cup of homemade ranch dressing for dipping. The fries seemed to have an extra batter on them making them extra crispy and crunchy. So good! I normally don't care for ranch dressing, but this was homemade right there so I gave it a shot. It was thicker and creamier than your typical "out of a bottle" ranch and I really enjoyed it. Dessert was bananas foster with a rich, creamy sauce made from scratch. It was absolutely decadent! It's clear chef Jon Rennie is experienced and cares about quality. He's chosen fresh, quality ingredients, and so much of the menu is prepared fresh daily. I look forward to visiting here again and again so I can experience everything the menu has to offer. They have a nice variety of favorite beers on tap and the bar looks like a great place to meet some friends out for a drink, or to watch the big game. 5/5 stars here and I will absolutely be back soon!
