I love restaurants that emphasize an environmentally sustainable, cruelty-free vegan/vegetarian lifestyle.
Too bad the menu here isn't 100% vegan - but all items are vegetarian, and some that are not vegan have vegan options.
Interesting to learn that the same company owns both Green Vegetarian Cuisine and Earth Burger.
There's a broad selection of menu items, which is good. Too bad breakfast isn't available all day. I would like more healthy menu items, but it is good that there are several healthy choices.
The acoustics don't seem great - the room is pretty echoey. But it's not a bad little restaurant.
The cauliflower wings (I neglected to take a photo) are excellent, the best I've ever had. Highly recommended - as long as you don't mind eating something deep fried. Not the healthiest choice.
The orange tofu was highly disappointing. The tofu, broccoli and slaw were all quite bland and flavorless. I asked for more orange sauce, hoping that would fix it. That didn't add any flavor, but just made it extremely salty. At least it's a halfway healthy choice (although I think the tofu is fried?) - perhaps it would be more enjoyable with getting some other sauce on the side.
The hostess cupcake wasn't bad. Not great, but as good as a typical snack cake from a store shelf. Props for making a convincing baked good that's completely vegan.
I've been going to Green for years now starting from the Pearl location. I haven't been back for a while due to the pandemic and not being in the area too much. Last night, we dropped by the "new" Quarry location.
I got their Vegan Chicken Fried Steak. Absolutely delicious. I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian so I've had my fair share of the real thing. This absolutely checks all the boxes. Crispy batter, moist inside, and flavorful gravy on top. I opted for different sides; instead of mashed potato and kale salad, I asked for quinoa and broccoli. Delicious nonetheless.
We also ordered the fried pickles and onion rings. They are crispy and oh-so-good.
They also have amazing baked goods! I definitely recommend the vegan hostess cupcakes.
Hands down one of the best Vegetarian friendly restaurants this city has to offer!!
I’ve brought a variety of friends that didn’t know vegetables could taste so savory and delicious and they loved their meals! I’m personally not a vegetarian but it doesn’t mean I can’t have appreciation for a well made meal and eating there has inspired me to have more plant based meals cooking at home. 10/10 recommend everyone to try, even meat eaters because you won’t be disappointed. Everyone should break out of their comfort zone every now and then :)
