The day I ate dinner here the weather was bad but this place is good. On a nice day this would be a great place to eat, hang out for awhile and drink some good beers.
It’s counter ordering which I like and they bring your food to you when it’s ready. I got the burnt end melt which I think is what Guy got when he visited for DDD. I also got the house pickles and a beer. I wish I would’ve got one more small item to eat because I was hungry and the food was delicious.
I also liked the fact that it was not in the middle of downtown so it wasn’t super busy. That could have also been due to the weather.
So I'm out on a business trip and of course, looking for a Guy Fieri Triple D recommendations and up pops Dignowity Meats. We took a Lift to the restaurant and settled on a KC Burnt Ends Brisket sandwich. We had everything on it which requires two things...you like everything and plenty of napkins. Needless to say, Guy did us right. We also had the cheesy cheddar Mac which was exactly all that. The service was good but not outstanding but the food made up for it. Would I go back you ask? You bet!
You can go to the Northside, or one of the more affluent sides of town, where some of the more trendy eateries make their home. And sure, the food is decent/safe, if that's all it takes to satisfy your palate. Or, you can shrug off any misconceptions you have about the east side of town and experience one of San Antonio's hidden gems. Dignowity meats is a humble little eatery that if you weren't looking for it, you'd drive right past it. Although you would be making a mistake by doing so. A friendly outdoor spot, with great beers on tap, and exceptional food coming out of the kitchen. If you're looking for a down-to-earth spot that is inviting, appetizing, as well as a chill spot to kick back and relax, then look no further. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was my first time here and I enjoyed my meal. I had the burnt ends melt, which was full of cheesy goodness, delicious meat, and the bread was soft with a perfect crispy crust. They offer traditional deli sandwiches as well. I'll come another time to get the turkey caprese.
The Mac and cheese was good. Nice roux and flavor. Wouldn't have minded more cheese in the mix, but just nitpicking.
Overall it's a place you should definitely try.
On this recent visit I had the smoked pastrami sandwich. It is easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Simple yet delicious. The pastrami had excellent flavor and texture. The Swiss cheese was nice and melted, the mustard was great and the toasted rye bread topped it off.
