Past Tense Texas but Cool. I walked into this place and immediately felt like I was taking a step back in time. There were cool retro pictures and paintings on the walls and heads of tasty animals as well. They had an old cash register on the counter at the back. The best part about this is that they didn't hire a consultant to design the look. It wasn't one of those pretentious places that creat the illusion that you are in an old style Texas eatery. It is an old style Texas eatery. I had the silver dollar pancakes with eggs and sausage with a large iced tea and it was wonderful. I can't honestly tell you that I fit the usual demographic for this place as many of the patrons were in cowboy hats and cowboy boots that looked like the owners actually worked in them, but I felt at home. An honest meal at good prices. A comparatively unknown San Antonio landmark.
Back in time.... Unlikely place to get a good steak that was delicious. This place compares a little to the Western Broiler over on the southwest side of town...I think it's the ambiance of the building and wait staff. I'll be back.

On the search for a good Chicken Fried Steak and Bobbie’s gets recommended often. The portion was nice, but the flavor was perfect. The breading sticks to the steak when you cut. And you can really cut it with a fork if you wanted. Very tender. Gravy was perfect. Could have used a larger portion of potatoes, but that’s minor.
Service was over the top. Extremely friendly and just a great experience overall. I heard that their guard is really good, but you have to ask for it since it’s not on the menu. Definitely will try it next time.
It was our first trip and definitely not our last!!! The best combination of great food and great service!! My wife and I split the motherclucker and I am glad we did! Its huge! It left us a little room for the Oreo cheesecake and OMG!! I had to get an extra piece to go! And Miranda was so kind!! She was on top of everything with a bright and shiny smile on her face! See yall again soon!

I had the pleasure of savoring some down-home, southern cooking at Bobbies Cafe, and it was a soul-satisfying experience. From the crispy fried chicken to the buttery, melt-in-your-mouth biscuits, every dish had that comforting, homemade touch. The attentive and very nice staff made it all the better. If you're craving authentic southern flavors, this place is a must-visit!
