The hostess, manager, and server were super nice and attentive. Our server gave great advice. Our drinks took a bit long so she even comp'd the edamame which was the best edamame we've ever had (hunt: order the warm with garlic shoyu). Drinks were amazing! Love this place. Definitely worth a revisit!

It was the best Japanese food I have ever eaten. Especially the chili pork was to die for. My favorite thing on the menue. We need one in NYC now. I also love that the manager goes from table to table to introduce himself and thank everyone for dinning there. I was looking around to make sure I wasn't on a cruise at the captain's dinner. The wait staff and food runners were extremely nice and knowledgeable about everything on the menu, food and drinks.

The food and food presentation was fresh and fabulous! The service was excellent! I would have liked to have the portions be a little more generous, but for the best sushi place in SF, I understand why they were a little smaller.

We just came in for appetizers and champagne. The 2-3 bartenders were very friendly, (thank you). Definitely order the Oysters, it’s like they plucked them right from the sea and shucked them special for you. The mushroom salad is incredible. Unfortunately we had other reservations, at a different restaurant. But this place, I highly recommended it! We’ll be back. Thank you!!!

Awesome food, excellent service, amazing atmosphere in the hippest (IMO) part of San Francisco. Would definitely go back. I had the fried squid, boyfriend had a delicious white fish, and my teenager had edamame, & what she called the best miso soup ever. I don't usually drink but we were suggested a sake that was delicious.

Each dish continued to amaze me. The Blue Fin Tuna Nigiri was hands down the best bite of food I've ever tasted! Really enjoyed the flight of Sake and all their knowledge on their wonderful and unique ones. Coming back 100%!

Lunch during restaurant week

We had an amazing lunch during SF Restaurant week. The Karaage chicken was unique and delicious. Lunch also included a salad that was different from the norm. But the highlight is definitely the steak bento box and the sushi lunch. Steak cooked to absolute perfection and the sushi was perfectly fresh and delicious. Presentation and service also spot on despite busy lunch hour. I’m definitely going back!!!!!

For a non seafood eater this place was always going to be a challenge. However the gyoza were excellent as was the Kaysu curry. It is on the pricey side, however lunch portions are a great size and there is plenty of variety.

The perfect business lunch for me and my younger companions with FOMO. It's hit and stylish but not overwhelmingly or intimidatingly so. The spicy edamame is one of my all time favorites. Sake and sushi bar every time. The maiter D is exceptionally attentive to details.

Wonderful experience although can get pricy if you let the waitress pick your sushi! Been there twice. Love the private authentic table on the floor.

Great upscale sushi place - all the dishes are "tapas" style so ordering more dishes is recommended. Shared a couple plates and each one was done very well and all the fish was incredibly fresh! Both the raw dishes and cooked dishes were presented well and were absolutely delicious!

Foodie with Food Allergy, Approved. Mmm Ozumo in the Financial District of San Francisco has delicious sushi, sashimi, small plates, and Japanese dishes. Also, it has one of the most luscious sake houses in North America.

Highly recommend. Special celebration, birthday, date, or swanky dinner.

* No Tree Nuts (upon request, notify your server)

* If you drink, check the sake ingredients some have almond notes

The best of Japanese flavors. Everything we ate (and we ate a LOT) was so fresh and light and bursting with Japanese flavors. You can't go wrong. And bonus: the view and decor are spectacular.

Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic food and atmosphere. While we were waiting at the bar for friends to show up the bartender asked if I would like a drink, saki maybe? To which I replied "anything but saki please, it tastes like hot tequila". Well I will admit my saki experience is fairly limited so he offered me a glass of a chilled cherry blossom saki, and I will admit it was very good and I was very wrong, so thank you!

We enjoyed our meal so much, presentation and taste were both fantastic.

Great for groups. The restaurant is nicely decorated with great lounge music in the background at a volume that still makes conversation possible. The food is very good but not the best Japanese that I've ever had. I've visited on two different trips to the bay area and will certainly return for a third visit.

When someone says, let's go out for Japanese food tonight, they usually mean sushi. Unfortunately that leaves out an entire universe of Japanese dishes such hotpots, seafood, vegetables and meat roasted on a robata grill, and so on. Not so at Ozumo, which

Quick lunch at the end of the street. Chirashi doesn’t have a lot of fish slides, but the selection with is fairly nice, with scallops and botan shrimp. The rice is good. The grains are slightly sticky and bouncy and subtly sweet. Tamagoyaki is actually the highlight. I don’t usually appreciate it in chirashi bowls because they take the space of more expensive fish cuts, but this is one of the best tamagoyaki I’ve had— Eggy, earthy, not too sweet at all. The seaweed salad exceeds my expectations. It isn’t the usual thin seaweed strings and there are refreshing radish pieces. The ume shiso dressing has a prominent shiao flavor, though I’d prefer the it to be less sweet and more citrusy/sour. Service is minimal and minimalist. It’s lunch time and everyone is in a rush. I didn’t even have time to request less rice. It’s a little odd to be the only person placed at the sushi bar but I do enjoy watching the chefs.

One of my favorite spots in the city. I love to sit at the bar (former bartender) and Ben is one of the best bartenders You can't tell but the back side of the restaurant is HUGE so it might seem chill at the sake bar side but they might also be SLAMMED without you knowing it. Anytime I'm in the area though I come see if Ben is working. Right by embarcadero it's a great stop for a meal and a drink. The food menu changed up a bit so here's the recent one. Everything is pretty good, not too pricey for what it is and where it is. I normally get something salmon or kama and add rice. Today in particular we did some shareables. The vegetable sashimi was surprisingly good. The desserts were amazing. I had a rice pulp drink as a non alcoholic cheers beverage as I gave up alcohol recently. Kanpai!

We chose Ozumo because we only wanted to have sushi for lunch, while there are not many options in San Francisco that offer lunch time. The atmosphere was cozy, the service was fantastic and the food was absolutely worth the money. Our favorites were karaage, gindara (grilled fish), matcha ice cream and black sesame mochi. The food was so delicious and authentic that we even ordered the second dish for Gindara.

I visited in the afternoon time and I like the bar side of the restaurant. It is cozy and quite compared to other side. Food is amazing and they could have done bit bitter on sushi dishes, but over all food is amazing. Best part is drinks. I just order one cook tail. It is so refreshing and I got buzz with only one drink. If I have to order other thing from this restaurant, it will be drinks 🍹 😊

Very nice restaurant with attentive service and a nice selection of sake to choose from. The restaurant was a bit quite on a Sunday evening but that works for me. There were maybe 2 other tables being served while we were there. The Hamachi was awesome, the tuna tartar is a must. Overall the sushi was really good and we had a great experience.

Very good vibes and amazing food! Our favourite from the Happy Hours are Tuna Tartare, Karaage, and Ribs which are only $10 each! The Wagyu Maki is also really good where we ordered from non HH. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I had one of the best sushi experiences of my life at Ozumo! I sat at the bar and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. The staff even assisted me with ordering from the expansive menu! Per their recommendations, I went on a “fish belly journey” that consisted of all the fish bellies on the menu (plus my personal favorite, shiro maguro). The rice in each piece was the perfect texture and seasoned beautifully. But the fish was consistently the star of the show - each bite simply melted in my mouth! My favorites were the buritoro (yellowtail belly) and the chutoro (medium bluefin tuna belly). To drink, I had The Vakura, which was an old fashioned that was as smooth as silk! The space is sleek and the hip music makes for a cool ambiance. But the service was remarkable - the staff needs a raise! What a divine experience with indescribably delicious food. I will be coming back to Ozumo during my next trip to SF!

Great quality food and service. Pricy for sure. Super easy to get $300+ for 2 people. Would give 5 stars for half of the price🦦

My husband and I went on a date here and it was great. We walked in and the place was really quiet. If you're just talking to each other side by side then there's no need to speak loudly because how the space is set up allows your voice to travel easily. There is no loud music in the background so you can talk nicely and not yell. You also cannot hear other people across the room unless they're purposefully being loud. Our server was nice too. Very upbeat and informational. The food came out a couple of dishes at a time which was a good pace for us. We always finished the dishes before the others came out. Which made the experience feel like a small plays experience and at always had enough room on the table because they would take the old dishes off first them bring out the new ones. The drinks were good too. The perfect amount of liquor with good flavorings. The drinks did not taste like any other drinks that I've tried. I think their menu is unique and you don't see the combinations anywhere else. Like you will not see a California roll or crunchy shrimp roll. This restaurant makes up their own rolls. The wagu meat is so good just melted in my mouth. I would say it's definitely worth the experience.

I was invited to Ozumo but a friend, who is Japanese, and knows her Japanese food! So of course I took her lead to meet for Happy Hour! Oh yes! This place checked all the boxes for outstanding: Service, ambiance, menu, food, and most important that Geisha cocktail! Top HH spot!

This is a fantastic Japanese Steakhouse but the food doesn't seem to be worth the price of the menu items. I've definitely been to better Japanese steakhouses. It's not bad, I just had better. Everything we ordered was great! The service was also great! And the view was amazing if you were sitting in the back!

Received a gift card for Ozumo from work. I was extremely excited to try it! We started off with cocktails, I got the Omakase (red) and my friend got the giddy geisha (yellow). Her drink was ok, a little bitter. The Omakase was absolutely delicious! Not sure what was in it though. We both ordered miso soup, which was fantastic. We also got the hanabi appetizer, which was also really good. For the entrees, I got the Ozumo roll (honestly, it was ok) and my friend got the bucho. For dessert, we got the choco-chan which was very delicious. We spent $200, which was a little more than expected. I do feel some of the prices of things on the menu are a little too high, as others have said. I wish my sushi roll was a little better but perhaps should’ve gotten a different one. Overall it was an excellent experience and the restaurant is pretty.
