Upscale Mexican-inspired cuisine. Definitely ask about their specials, since our mussels tostada was bomb! Drinks were pretty good too. Tip was already included, so no need to tip more.

Cala is not "inventive" Mexican cuisine, it's Mexican cuisine done right and not the run of the mill salsa and guacamole joint. They get everything right, starting with the cocktails, everyone enjoyed all the drinks we got. Nicely balanced and refreshing. I had the 'Pepino Mezcal' and while I do not like smoked mezcal, they balanced it so well that it was absolutely refreshing. You can't go wrong with the food. The tostada's are exceptional. The trouut tostada was amazingly good. We also had the kampachi as well which was good. The king trumpet mushrooms are light and citrusy and packs quite the flavor. The pork tamal was absolutely stunning and the sweet potato with bone marrow was like nothing else I have had before. It's a large portion though. The sopa playeros, with the black beans was the most surprising dish as all of us are non vegetarians but we absolutely loved it! The dessert, we thought might be too much, but is not to be missed and we were so glad we ordered it. The coconut flan and the corn tamal were soooo good and light!! Quite an experience! Loved it!
