Stumbled upon Mama’s during our visit in December and on a Friday morning we waited about 45 minutes outside getting there a little after 8 am. The food was absolutely delicious - I had the cinnamon French toast with a side of bacon and grapefruit juice. My wife had the Monte Cristo and a pancake with berries, and her’s too was delicious. The staff are very friendly and polite and the food hits your tables almost right after you sit down.
Was back visiting this weekend and had to take my daughter. We went on Sunday and got there about 9:30. We waited 2.5 hours but the food was well worth the wait. We both had French toast, me the cinnamon with fresh fruit & my daughter the chocolate cinnamon with fresh fruit. We both had bacon, and a side of scrambled eggs. I normally don’t eat eggs but these were so fresh & delicious. My daughter even skipped adding ketchup they were so good. Once again the staff was exceptionally friendly and provided great service.
Talking to a staff member outside, if the line reaches the back door of Mama’s you’re looking at 45-60 min wait from there, so you can gauge your wait looking at the line. I’ll be going to Mama’s for breakfast every time I visit SF.
Okay okay okay... so the other reviews on this place are pretty spot on. We came here based off the 3.5k reviews and 4.5 Stars on yelp. The line was long but we met locals in the morning who told us what to order. The French toast sampler is basically to die for. Who ever thought to make banana bread into French toast!!?!?! This place was yummy and worth the wait. Kinda sucks that they don’t take credit cards though... especially for the price of all the meals (~$14 a plate).
Mama's opens at 8am and we got there at 7:10am and we were the 10th people in line. It was well worth the wait. My husband got the Dungeness crab omelette and I got the Bay shrimp omelette and we shared the French Toast Sampler. Everything was amazing, including the best raspberry jam I've ever eaten. So happy we decided to have breakfast at Mama's!
Food is always fresh & tasty with a great range of choice on the menu. Staff are excellent, well mannered and fast service too. As a visitor to San Francisco it’s always my first port of call for breakfast or brunch and make it a point to go as often as possible
The best Monte Cristo i have ever had in my life. We waited 50min for brunch and it was worth EVERY MINUTE!! Put it at the top of your to-do list!! #supportsmallbusiness #qualityoverquantity
A good brunch place but can’t agree more to other reviews that place is a little cramped, but it’s definitely worth it to queue for less than an hour
The crab benedict is good and french toast is bomb!
The unpeeled potatoes were perfectly cooked and crispy still, and the sweet jam sauce was a perfect pair - taste like a cranberry sauce in the sweeter side.
However, parking is a bit hard too so might need to get uber or try your luck to find one..
Worth the hype and good brunch place!
The space was a little cramped, but it made the whole experience feel like you were eating on the kitchen at your childhood home and I think that vibe made up for it.
The eggs were somehow fluffy and creamy all at once, and the fresh orange juice was addicting. Everything tasted amazing.
Highly recommend going first thing on a Saturday before the line gets too long. That being said, there wasn't much of a wait when we arrived (9am on a Saturday).
Food is awesome, staff is also really friendly and thoughtful. We had our two baby stroller inside together with our pup (seated at the end of the restaurant so our dog wouldn’t disturb other customers as well) they gave us the best service and our dog got so many good doggy treats too. Our go-to brunch place when we’re in town.
Came here based on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The Monte Cristo sandwich was amazing. Perfectly cooked, light golden brown and just the right temperature inside (not cold). Service was quick and staff was very friendly. They even treated us to an anniversary carrot cake which was fantastic. It's a small place but we managed to find a seat right away. Overall a terrific place to have a meal.
Had a great brunch here with my boyfriend. I had the dungeness crab Benedict which is quite pricey being a local crab, but delicious nonetheless. My boyfriend had the breakfast sandwich, which was also a great meal. Depending on when you go you'll be seated in less than 20min, however, during rush brunch hour it can take some time to get a table.
