Cracking place to go for a drink, decent pints and amazing staff. Hilary was very welcoming during the times I’ve visited over the past two years and made it all worth while! Cannot beat the place
If you want the best cup of tea in town then this is the place. High Tea is available till 4pm. Proper fine bone china cups with the best scones and food available. Wanted the fish and chips but the scones won out
I have always loved the Kings Head since I first went there in 1992. The best times, drinks, food... the banger sandwich was my fave, karaoke on Sundays. If I lived in Santa Monica again, I would be there every week.
Good food and atmosphere is what you expected you are eating in Ye Olde Kings Head. It does not disappoint. Seated where Churchill is looking at you. Tried poached fish 🎣 and lamb shoulder before. Both great and so much better than I expect.
The restaurant was a solid groove. I just don't understand why the merchandise store doesn't stay open with equal hours. The staff, was very friendly. Next time I should try the Traditional Curry. I had the Fish, and chips this time, with beer batter.
We love this place! Whenever we need our London fix we come here and eat the same food we would eat in a pub in London. It’s classic pub food, nothing spectacular nothing disappointing. Service staff are very friendly with good banter, atmosphere is very nice. It’s one of the places you can order a pint of Guinness with black currant and they’ll bring it to you without a “ha?”. Their King size Fish N’ Chips and Poached cod is particularly good. We haven’t tried their Sunday roast or curries, I’ll report back when we do. If you are in Santa Monica and need to get your London fix, give it a good go.
Update on 8/27
We went there for their Sunday roast. They have lamb, beef and veggie patty. Our friends said the lamb was a little over cooked but the Yorkshire pudding was really nice. Lastly we had their apple pie and it was very good.
Wow, it looks like a small restaurant, then you walk inside, and it is larger than you expect. The food looked great at other tables. The fish and chips were amazing, flakey, and the breading was crisp. The clam chowder was rich, creamy, and had chunks of clams! How I have missed this place for 3 years is beyond me. Will definitely be back.
I really like the ambiance and the service! The parking might be tough.. let’s be real, it’s Santa Monica. The food is good, but you’re getting bar food.. nothing special. I ordered the king size fish and chips, which the server recommended I get both the beer-battered and the original. The fries “chips” was thick-cut style with some type of seasoning that I was not familiar with. We also got the “Bar Burger” medium-rare with cheese, which I thought it was really juicy and delicious. They also play important European Soccer games. Overall I would definitely go back and maybe for brunch this time and their breakfast menu.
I've been to the Yee Olde Kings head a few times with a large group of friends, the service has always been really good and so is the food. The Caesar salad was amazing and so were these samosas. I would definitely recommend checking out the Ye Olde Kings head and I plan on coming back.
I had been wanting to come here for awhile and it surpassed my exceptions! The English Breakfast was amazing, my wife for the Shepherd’s Pie and I had to steal some of that off her plate. I will be back very soon! Also, the gift shop attached to the restaurant has soo many goodies make sure you bring extra cash for that too!
