Smith Brothers Butcher Shop Savannah

I made a recent visit to your new downtown store on the evening of July 11th. It was my FIRST visit to the new store and I was very excited. I was looking to get some sausage for my beans and rice recipe. I went over the butcher and he was very helpful in describing the sausages and what they might be like and what would go well with my dish. Right when I made the decision, he mentioned one other, the South African Sausage and even though it might not be the best for the dish, I decided to try it. I was also greeted and helped in picking out a bottle of wine. I cant say how impressed I was with the selection and service. I came after 6pm, so I was also pleasantly surprised to see there was a discount. I would recommend this shop to anyone and as someone who grew up in Savannah, I am glad to see it back.

Smith Brothers is a home town favorite and has been since I moved to Savannah 30 years ago! The residents of the Landings community were blessed when the store moved from their Habersham Street location 25 years ago to The Village on Skidaway Island. We have been spoiled by the wonderful service extended to us by the owner Robert Anderson, the manager Gary Griffin, Willie the butcher, Ted in the wine department, and all their other friendly employees. Smith Brothers is well known for its exceptional meat and seafood department, and many customers frequently use that department to place orders for smoked items, perfectly cooked beef tenderloins, and any kind of meat or seafood they want prepared... they do it all. Just order it, pick it up, take it home, and serve it to your guests. Same thing for the hot and cold deli. Their tomato sandwiches have been served at many a tea or cocktail party. Ted and Gary are both quite knowledgeable with wine selections and the store carries a nice variety of moderately priced wines. The beer selection is quite nice, too. Many gourmet foods not found at any other store in Savannah can be had at Smith Brothers as well as local Savannah brands. Need stamps or have to mail a package? Smith Brothers has a postal station and a UPS station. The store hosts a Spring Fling and a Fall Festival which provides entertainment (car show, art, kids activities, food, wine tastings) for the the area residents. But it's the contributions to the community at large that make this business extra special. The management is very generous in giving donations of food to families who have fallen on hard times. The entrance of the store is commonly used to allow groups such as the Kiwanis Club, the Girl Scouts, and other community-based groups to promote their projects. Smith Brothers really has just about everything a resident of Skidaway Island might need and want. Please support this business.
