We enjoyed a very nice brunch here. It isn't Four Seasons and they don't make Eggs Benedict, but more rustic brunch classics are well-made and very generous.
The only thing that really detracted from the experience was the extremely loud noise level, which made conversation a real challenge. Maybe some noise absorption in the ceiling could be helpful?
My daughter looked up “best breakfast” in Seattle and Geraldine’s popped up. So glad we found this fantastic restaurant because it was AMAZING!!! I had the breakfast casserole with a side of avocado and I don’t think I have ever had a better combination! One of the servers recommended a side of gravy and gave me a small cup to try, oh my heavens!!!! The whole experience was worth the little side trip down a different path. We were able to go into a part of the Seattle area we have never been and enjoyed the entire experience! Highly recommend! They are busy and there is a wait, but don’t let that discourage you! Four of us sat at the counter and it was great beCause we were able to talk to different servers and watch the process.
Great place great service and the turkey sandwich was amazing, and if you a fan of pancakes you got to try theirs. The fries were crunchy n seasoned perfectly.
great spot for breakfast. Everything looked so good I had a hard time choosing what to eat. I ended up getting the spinach feta omelet and a pancake my boyfriend had the egg scrambled. Both plates were very well served and delicious. The service was fast the waitress was great and the coffee was amazing. If your in seattle make sure you stop by Geraldines!!
The corned beef hash was nothing short of amazing and the serving size was absolutely perfect. Kept me going most of the day but didn't leave feeling like I'd over ate. Partner got a half serve of pancakes which was okay but he was more just envious of my meal. Can recommend getting up that little bit earlier to beat the brunch crowd. Coffee was pretty nice too as far as a diner goes.

Hands down the best french toast in seattle. Plenty of parking or maybe I just get lucky. Their staff is great. My friends and I always come here and get our own plate of French toast. Came here on Father's Day with my family and the wait was only 30 minutes? Gotta try their French toast! Rating a bit low ONLY because it is a tiny bit pricey. But manageable.
I love this place - worth a 30 minute wait!. This place is always packed. The later it gets on the weekend the busier it gets. I would wait 30 minutes for this fabulousness (which is saying a lot!) - I am less excited about waiting 60 minutes for this awesomeness - but I might. If you can roll in with 1 other person and sit at the counter, that will cut down the wait time. The bloody Mary's are AMAZING! I love the french toast and the scrambles. My dad loved the corned beef hash. If you are willing to wait, this place is well worth it! Also, it isn't a hang out and socialize kind of place - they tend to turn over tables quickly.
I've never seen such a busy lunch spot on a weekday like I did at Geraldine's Counter . Every table was taken and my family even had to wait a minute. On a Thursday, no less. So I was expecting to be blown away by the service and the food. Turns out it was just standard breakfast and lunch fare, small portions and kind of high prices. I've heard nice things about the French toast and it was good but I didn't go crazy over it. I was surprised they chose strawberries in January to top it with. I would have gone with something seasonal to make it pop. They did have a nice kid's menu with everything being five bucks and the plates a pretty good size. My boys had the Kid's Counter with eggs, hash browns and wheat toast. I got the half order of French toast along with a side of chicken sausage and my husband ate the chicken pot pie. All in all, kind of a pricey lunch out but we finally got to check it out. Geraldine's Counter is located in Columbia City and we've driven by it countless time and I've always been curious. They serve breakfast all day and are family friendly. I liked how bright and airy the space was and the art gracing the walls.
It was their honey and orange pancakes of the day. Oh my goodness… they were divine and so delicious! I can’t even describe the flavors. Orange pancakes? Who knew it could taste so good?! Their pancakes of the day is different everyday, so if you want to try the honey and orange special I would suggest calling them in advance to find out when they’ll be serving it.
This is my third time at Geraldine’s Counter and I am still very happy every time I visit. They have the BEST french toast I’ve ever had. It’s so unique to other ones I’ve had and it really is top notch.
In Columbia City there's a joint called Geraldine's Counter that serves french toast so good, you'll forget you don't even like french toast. What the french, toast?! I know! Located smack dab in the middle of Columbia City on Rainier Avenue, Geraldine's is easy to find. Since I was coming for the famous french toast, and it's only upon threat of mutilation will I dine in public before noon, it's a good thing that Geraldine serves breakfast all day. Seriously, every decent breakfast joint in this town will have a wait list if you arrive after opening, and the only way to avoid that is to wait before opening, and really, that's beyond inconceivable to me. Geraldine obviously understands that sometimes a girl needs to get her breakfast on after hours. We arrived around two'ish and still had to wait. Still! Breakfast hounds, I tell you. After a few minutes, we spotted some empty stools at the counter and decided we were too hungry to wait for a window
On my last visit to Seattle, my friends brought me to Geraldine’s Counter Restaurant for breakfast. It is currently their favourite breakfast spot in Columbia City. This place is really popular. We were lucky that we only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table (they won’t seat you until everyone is there!). Biscuits here were highly recommended by my friends, so I got an order of biscuits and gravy that came with 2 eggs of any style and hash browns. The pork sausage gravy as surprisingly light, and it was delicious with the buttery biscuits. The best things I had that morning wasn’t the biscuits and gravy. They were Geraldine’s Casserole and homemade coffee cake. The casserole was amazing. baked with layers of hash browns, sausage, pepperjack, cheddar, eggs and cream. So creamy and so tasty. The top of the coffee cake was very interesting. It was like a cross between a pie crust and a crumble. The cake itself was amazing, served warm, it was super
Chris and a co-manager friend of his from Starbucks invited me to have brunch with them. As always, I suggested Geraldine's since they were in my neck of the woods. I've mentioned it before, but Geraldine's Counter is delicious and our Saturday rendezvous
Excellent breakfast here. Had the emerald scramble, which has eggs, spinach, sausage, peppers and hash browns mixed together. Was delightful with hot sauce and whole wheat toast. Their house jelly is delicious and not too sweet. My friend had the biscuits and gravy and said it was great, too. Had a minor wait, but to be expected on a Saturday morning. Would go back if in the area.
Breakfast served all day. I use to think this was a hidden gem in Columbia City but now the waits tell me it's not really hidden. The food is fresh and hearty you will not leave hungry. They offer a lot of vegetarian options so both carnivores and vegetarian can eat happily ever after here.
Awesome Breakfast!. Sat at the counter as there was a wait for a table. That says something right there! For breakfast. Watched dish after dish come out and all of them looked amazing. I had the scramble of eggs, sausage, peppers, and a little cheese, sourdough toast, homemade preserves. It was great. But my next visit will be for the Biscuit & Gravy dish. And the visit after that will be the Egg Sandwich on Sourdough... The person I sat next to had this and I wanted to grab it off of his plate!
Best French Toast. This is by far the best French toast i have had!!!
Good, freindly, nice atomosphere. I had the Avocado & Pepperjack Omelet Topped with pico de gallo and sour cream and served with hash browns and toast. Awesome. I would recommend this place.
The French toast is amazing. The emerald scramble is impressive as well. Tasty food, friendly service, and reasonably priced (for the quality). Great Seattle breakfast spot.
One of the best Breakfasts in Seattle. You gotta try Geraldine's French Toast. This is by far my favorite breakfast. They use nice crispy bread and change up the toppings each week.
Breakfast is great. Don't bother with dinner.. I gave Geraldine's an "I like it" because I do like it -- for breakfast. I've been to dinner twice, however, and both times were, frankly, pretty bad. The second time featured one of the worst hamburgers I've ever had in my life.
Breakfast, on the other hand, brings us back again and again. It helps that it's close to our Rainier Beach home, of course, but it's also a reasonable selection of not-too-fancy breakfasts that all taste pretty good. And it's kid friendly.
Best Breakfast in Seattle. Get the "East Coast" for breakfast....simply the best I've had in Seattle.
It's our very first time in Seattle and our very first stop was recommended by a native friend.
We were immediately greeted and seated upon arriving even though the place was kinda busy. Our server was kind and she took her time give us a complete run down on the daily specials and answered all of our questions about the menu.
Lots of classic breakfast items on the menu with their own twist to them and you can tell the food is made to order and in-house. Shortly after placing our order the food arrived hot.
The corned beef hash was served with thick chunks of corned beef, seasoned potatoes, peppers, onions, celery, and the very unique addition, butternut squash. I wouldn't have thought the squash would have went well with this classic but I was pleasantly surprised. The biscuit was definitely made in-house and everything a biscuit should be, large and flaky.
The chicken fried steak was seasoned perfectly and topped with a sausage gravy and served with a thick side of hash browns and eggs.
Our friend tried to order something new from the menu, but returned to her all time favorite, Geraldine's casserole. While I didn't try it, it looked and smelled cheesy and delicious.
I would definitely make my way back to Geraldine's for breakfast, brunch or lunch when I'm in the area.
Great spot for brunch. I got the avocado & pepperjack omelette with sourdough bread and hash browns. The omelette was good a creamy. Filled with lots of avocado. We also got the corn beef hash which was very tender and lastly got the slammin' with the specialty French toast.
The waiter told us that the French toast was made with their sourdough. It was topped with peaches and served with maple syrup. I would highly recommend trying it as it is very different then normal French toast in that it is crispier and lighter.
Nice place to have breakfast. Happy to visit!
Great pancakes, tasty and crunchy french toast.
Friendly service, convenient location.
Today’s pancake was apply sauce pancake, and it was surprisingly delicious! All the dishes seemed to be freshly made with a good portion. Good service as well. Love to go back!
Went a few weeks back but honestly one of the best breakfast experience’s I’ve had in a while. From the moment we stepped in it was great. The waitstaff was so kind and helpful, and the food was delicious. Wish we lived closer so we can try everything on the menu.
Food is good, but be careful when you order the French toast for takeout, you get 3 thick slices but only one tablespoon of syrup!! I tried asking for extra syrup but they didn’t give me any! It’s literally one tablespoon of syrup, it just simply is not enough :(((
I also paid $6.00 for a side of bacon but they just didn’t give me it! I only noticed after I walked back to my house and ate the French toast
This place has the most legit chicken fried steak and eggs with gravy in Seattle. Seriously, this is how comfort food should be done. Others, take note. This place also doesn’t break the bank compared to other breakfast options around town but be prepared to wait for seating as it can get busy.
i’ve been here three or four times & always come back for the corned beef hash, chicken fried steak, & the french toast special. we came right at opening on a saturday morning & the place was instantly packed & there was a constant wait outside the whole time we were eating. there are quite a few tables, but it fills up FAST. wait staff is attentive, and welcoming. food comes out fast, which i love. parking isn’t great. we were lucky this time to come early & got paid street parking right in front, but usually have to circle the block once or twice to find parking on the side of the building.
Super good food and great service! They are busy for reason but a great spot to go to. If they are busy you can put your name in and get a coffee.
Delicious! Definitely visiting Geraldines counter again. Herbed omelette, Bacon egg Arugula sandwich was too good. The Hot Monkey Mary drink portion was a tall glass (difficult to drink entirely, good for sharing!) Mango mimosa was okay.
French toast with peaches and pancakes were a dream. French toast was the BESTEST ever I had :D The ambience is bright and colourful, streetscape offers buzzing views and a friendly staff adds to the overall good experience. Loved the food more than The Breakfast club in Moscow.
Really amazing French toast, and the service was excellent. Not too busy (Wed Morning). Very convenient location, not far from the light rail.
A fantastic place to have breakfast! We waited 15 minutes which I thought wasn’t bad. We ordered corned beef hash and it was delicious. Good food and service, although parking was a little bit challenging.
One of the best bloody mary mixes I've had in a while. Hot Monkey Bloody was delicious. We all loved the corned beef and French toast. Great food and service overall, definitely expect to wait for a table though!
This place is winner. Had brunch and it was spectacular. First time visited and wished this place was in my city.
On the counterstrike recommendation I have a dish with their French toast. Toast was A++! I can overlook the wait time for a seat because the meal and vibe was awesome. No free street parking but reasonable.
Late to post the review but this place has my heart. Amazing customer service that makes sure you have everything. Clean, very specious. Fair parking spot. Wait time to get a table usually differs. Make sure to reserve before going.
I went February 14 to take my mom on her birthday brunch, it was very nice not that much crowded. The food was amazing. We had such a great time.
If it is your first time in Seattle the area is very pretty to walk around.
Columbia City's hottest club is a breakfast joint where you have the privilege of waiting an hour.
I am usually skeptical of brunch spots that make you wait that long, and I actually ended up getting a salad, but this place is worth the hype.
Our server was super accommodating and attentive despite everything buzzing around us.
This place is BUSY and they will hustle you along, so not a place so hang out and gab. Also quite a few families/kids if that's not your scene.
Geraldine’s is a famous brunch spot in Seattle that our friends took us to. The wait time was quite long but we wrote our names down and explored around for a little bit. We were a group of 6 so we really went all out and ordered a variety of dishes. Their French toast was the winner, it’s really out of this world. Their savory breakfast dishes, Bloody Mary and steamed broccoli (trust me on this) was our favorite! Def recommend and worth the wait ;)
Nice and super busy brunch place. Chicken fried steak, hashbrown, pesto omelette, tomato soup, muffin with the jam, apple pie with maple syrup, coffee everything was delicious. Definitely we will come back again. Service was great. Staffs were friendly and helpful.
