Been several times now! We make the drive from San Marcos cause the food and service are great! Wish there were a few more options on the menu! Have had the Ruben sandwich. Pork roast special, chopped steak, chicken salad, the fried green beans are wonderful but the best is the coconut cake or the lemon-blueberry cake are AMAZING!

Home of the BEST chicken fried steak in town! We are not from Seguin, however 1838 has quickly become our favorite restaurant in town. We haven’t found anything yet on the menu that didn’t taste great. If you are a fellow lover of CFS this place is for you!
The wife didn't care for the salmon plate.
I got the fried chicken plate and it was good.
Will attempt come back and try a burger next time.
Had the catfish plate and it was excellent. I've had catfish at other places, but never as good as the one here. I will definitely come back again.
We ordered the BLT which was awesome as usual. Tea is wonderful! We also ordered their fantastic potato salad, the only critique I would offer is a bit more salt and smaller chunks. Now for some things that could use improvement....
Fries would be better made to order because ours were rubbery and cool.
Fried Pickles in huge spears were difficult to eat and we probably won't order them again. Batter came off with every bite so I believe that round slices with more batter would be perfect and a best seller. All in all, we have never had a bad meal here. .
Service....would be nice if more personable , friendly, and more accomodating.
Fantastic and delicious food. Excellent service, too. The catfish was crispy, fresh and very tasty with the right amount of spices. Actually all of the plate was superb. Fresh fries and crunchy coleslaw with the right amount of creaminess. Cake slices as big as your head! Absolutely moist and delicious! Take a trip to Seguin and enjoy the food. It's very well worth it.
Love the fact that everyone works together like a true team. Other restaurants are each waitress for their own table. Not here everyone worked together. And the food was great I had the Poblano chicken and my husband had a burger and son had chicken tenders. Definitely a good place to eat at
I was torn between the Ruben and the Monte Cristo. Waiter recommended the Monte. It came out pretty burned. Great service, will try the Ruben next time.
