All around excellent experience!! If you go you absolutely have to get the Whiskey Cake!! Hands down, the best cake I have ever had, I need a location near me in Connecticut!
The rest of the dishes were also phenomenal! Nothing crazy complicated but I appreciate when a restaurant can provide simple dishes, made very well! Because at the end of the day, I just want it to taste good!
We went to Whiskey Cake to celebrate a birthday. We picked Whiskey Cake because we had heard a lot of great things about the restaurant and they have a huge selection of whiskeys. The food was everything it was hyped up to be and more. Everything from the appetizers to dessert tasted amazing! We started with the chicken meatballs and the butter board, I highly recommend both of them. For our main dish I had the pork chops and they were easily the best pork chops I have had in years.
What a fun spot! The atmosphere & decor are on point, with a beautiful bar stretching all the way to the ceiling. Just beautiful! Some delicious whiskey choices and good wine list. Just sat at the bar & has a goat cheese appetizer, delish!
My go to spot on Tampa. I travel a lot and eat even more so I’m always looking for stand out restaurants and this is definitely one of them. They’re a farm to table restaurant and their drinks are made pre prohibition style which means they make all their mixers in house. I mostly go for their appetizers and of course their famous Whiskey Cake. I even order a Whiskey Cake to take back home with me when I fly out. I highly recommend the duck wings and three little pigs as an appetizer. Their steaks are delicious. The nonalcoholic fresh drinks are also a superstars on the menu. My personal favorite is Their Jessica Wabbit drink.
The food (especially the cake) was phenomenal, and the smoked old fashioned was top tier. Service was a mixed bag. My server was amazing perfect, attentive but not overly so. The kitchen had to redo my entrée, but at least they didn't deliver the first one to me. And they gave me some deviled eggs to tide me over without asking. I was SHOCKED however when someone (maybe the hostess...but not my server) asked me if I didn't mind paying for my to-go cake order separately and right now. I had just tucked into my (late) pork chop and couldn't believe I was being asked to pay for something mid-meal. My guess is she was wanting the tip on the $150 bill for two cakes, but it was very uncool. But the constant with this location and the one I've been to in Austin is the noise. Both locations feature several long tables in the heart of their dining rooms which encourages large parties of people who inevitably have to yell at eachother to carry on a conversation. I was sitting alone and a few tables over from the closest long table and was having a really difficult time enjoying my meal with so much noise.
The food and prices are elevated, but the atmosphere is ridiculously loud and service was inconsistent. I'd give the same feedback for the Austin location, so it may be systemic
