This is the best ramen in Los Angeles!
The best. Hands down best ramen in town !!!!!!!!
The English sign for Santouka is discreet -- it's the one with the crowd in front The bonus of going to someplace I don't often have time to get to, like the South Bay, is the chance to hit someplace I haven't been on the way back. Of course, I've been to
This place is often cited as the best ramen-ya in Los Angeles (and possibly the US).
One thing I love about Mitsuwa is the side restaurants that you can dine in 🍜. The place is clean and well maintained. I love the fact that it is beside Del Amo Shopping center, so I would always come here after completing my shopping sessions.
The food? Pretty good! We ordered the rice bowl, spicy miso ramen and salt ramen. I understand people are complaining that the broth can be a little salty and I agree. However, you could definitely get some oolong tea to reduce the saltiness. Personally, the ramen texture in this restaurant is probably one of the best I have tasted ( I mean soft ramen? nope, this place serve proper ramen noodles). 🤭 Meat were juicy and had satisfying after-taste! I prefer eggs with runny egg yolk but the eggs here seemed overcooked. Nevertheless, I thought the spicy miso ramen was the better of the two because the broth wasn't as salty. As for the rice bowl, I thought the meat was seasoned well and they weren't as salty as their ramen. 🤷🏼♂️
Parting thoughts? I would recommend this restaurant if you love salty food. If you or your partner can't stand salty ramen, then they can always be a good friend or partner and try out the rice bowl and let you enjoy that ramen goodness! 😋😶🌫️
I got the regular miso ramen. (I also got large, I was very hungry). I mixed it and took a bite and forgot to take a picture of it before...oops! But it's very yummy! It has two pieces of chasu. So good! I'd recommend getting a medium bowl and then getting a bowl of rice with it. They have a bunch of small rice bowl varieties!
Broth is thick and seasoned nicely. One of the better places I've been to. I would come back for that alone.
Noodles and toppings are generic and not custom to the restaurant. Generous Noodles and light on the toppings.
The tea egg is missing something. I'm more used to getting these in China, and they are much stronger in flavor.
Rice was better than I expected, but the tuna was not well made.
Great stop for a quick bite.
Ordered the salt Ramen with salmon bowl side. The soup had good flavor but little salty, noodles were nice and chewy. The pork was on fattier side but probably adds more flavor. The salmon were flaked too small so couldn't tell if they were good but the little salmon roe add bursts of salt. This was the Torrance Del Amo location and had outdoor seating. Reliable place to go.
