My friend was playing music on the back patio, and that was good. The food was good, but it did take staff a little while to acknowledge me being there, however after that they provided good service.

The sushi & Miso soup are Amazing! Drinks are very tasty as well! Servers here are always very kind & occasionally they have live music outside! Both outdoor & indoor seating! I’ve taken shots with the staff on a closing night (highly recommend the secret PJ shot), and my only complaint is sometimes it can be busy on a weekend & hard to get a seat, But regardless if they are busy or not; they will treat you right & serve you as quick as they can!

If you have ever had amazing sushi, this is by far one of the best places. Everything for everyone, whether you enjoy fish/eel/tempura or not. Awesome people, quick service. Even better food because let's face it, the food is the star of the show. If for some reason you don't like it I believe you might be crazy!

Howdy, howdy, Rusty here. IntheRawSus Hi. Hi y'all. My experience w this Sushi Shak, Occured before she got a facelift, in about 1965~~~~~...the matter of what was there flew away from my craniums. Question what was there, under, on, and above ground? 50s-60s. It's only my conjecture: But it's entirely possible that someone who helped build "Pennington's" took a leak there previously 💋🙏.

Services was a little slower than anticipated as they were not as busy at the time we went. I actually thought she forgot about us after bringing us drinks as it took about 10 minutes for her to come back and get our order. The food came out in a timely manner and was perfect! Overall a happy experience. Try the Volcano Roll! Perfection!

I’m giving this place a 4 star review because the sushi is overpriced for the lack of presentation. We waited around 30-45 min for basic sushi to come out. It was quite disappointing. But aside from that the calamari was delicious. I also enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. The wait staff was very accommodating. I’m not sure if I’ll return specifically because of the price for the product.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Tulsa.. hands down! I worked here for four years throughout high school and college. Great food, great staff, great ambiance. The fish is always fresh and ITR never disappoints with making a delicious cocktail. Highly recommend. Cheers!

Although a great location, the restaurant is good at best. The food is decent but the menu lacks options, especially sushi. I had the nigiri combo, decent but very little bang for your buck.

Great place. I had the spicy roll combo and tuna sashimi. The sashimi was firm, fresh, and flavorful. The atmosphere was fun and lively which might be difficult if you are on a date and want to be able to converse.
Though the food was delicious, we felt the presentation lacked creativity. Again, everything tasted wonderful though. It's rather expensive, so we won't be regulars, but it was nice for a special occasion.

Poor Customer Service. I had planned on eating there and heard fantastic things about it. I had planned to take my wife on a holiday. I called in a few days in advance to see if reservations were required, and was told they were not the night I was planning to go. My wife and I show up with plenty of time to wait, etc, and were turned away due to lack of reservations. The staff made no attempt to assist us, or seemed to care really after I had explained what was going on. I have never eaten there and will never attempt to, due to their poor customer service.

I do enjoy other sushi in the area.

It's good, but pricey. Food quality 4/5 stars (for the Tulsa area)
Service 3/5 stars
Atmosphere 4/5 stars
Price 2/5 stars (It is expensive when compared to some other locations, although the quality difference may prompt you to choose here instead)
Selection of sushi options 4/5 stars
Typical experience when eating here, typically 3/5 stars

I do think it is a pretty good option for Sushi in Tulsa. They have a decent variety of sushi among other items. It will do the trick if you need a sushi fix.

Bad Service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Tonight my wife and I went to the IN THE RAW on a date night and we where made to wait for any service the waiter walked buy use 5 times and never even looked at us. Even the hostess didn't as what we would like to drink. I would have expected this on a busy Saturday even at less a couple of mins but it was dead they had 6 couples in the whole restaurant and this was at the 61st in Sheridan location.
So we got up and told them you never even came to our table ask if we like water and walked out not even a sorry or anything. We'll never go back and never recommend them to any of our family or Facebook friends.
You lost $100.00 meal for two IN THE RAW! I'm not sure it was because we aren't thin or because we wore jeans but rudeness was beyond belief. If your smart don't go to that location ever save your money and find someone else.

PS We went to Kilkennys on cherry street told them what happen and they took perfect service and care of use. Gave the waitress $30.00 tip. Thank you Kilkennys

John Dara Jennings

Overpriced drinks and overpriced sushi. The sushi tasted like it was from Reasors. The fish was far from fresh tasting. The view and the service were the only positive things about it. My $9 cocktail was awful. If you really want great fresh sushi, go to "sushi Hana." I don't understand why people think this place is so good..Oklahomans..

Hated it. Rude servers, nasty restaurant that had a sewer back up while people were eating and there they were slopping a mop around while we were trying to eat. Noticed when we were trying to park their employees were smoking around the corner and just throw their butts on the ground! Gross! Also you guys can throw your Christmas tree away now- it goes INSIDE the dumpster!! Never again will I bother to go to this joke of a restaurant ....

Loved it. Decided to try this place out while in town over Christmas, was not disappointed.

The Good:
The atmosphere. This place has a cool, urban/college vibe to it. Very fun.
The service. Friendly and relatively quick for how crowded it was.
The food! The sushi was so so good. I got the spider roll and another, I think it was called the OMG? They were both delicious, with tons of flavor. My boyfriend got 3 other ones, don't recall which, but he was very pleased. We also split a small bottle of sake, which was a first for both of us, and it was very good.

The Bad:
The size. It's a pretty small place once you get in, and it gets crowded to the point that it's hard to get out of your chair. We were sitting at the bar and people, employees mostly, had to keep trying to squeeze between our chairs and the tables behind us.
The hours. I don't know if it was because of the time of year, but we had gone up here for lunch (around 1 I think). There were people eating and the hostess greeted us with "we're closed, you can come back at 5".

The Ugly:
The price. My god! Luckily we had a gift certificate or else this place would have bankrupted us. I think the bill was nearly $60 dollars!

Best sushi in Tulsa. Hands down the best sushi in this landlocked state. Pricey and worth it. My vegan best friend, 7-year-old son and I always find something delicious. If you don't like the menu, they will create a roll with whatever you desire. Waitstaff is always friendly. Only complaint is the noise when the restaurant is full.

Not bad. The thing is, I like this restaurant if someone else is paying. The sushi is way too expensive and If I go out for sushi I like to have a variety of rolls to choose from. The menu doesn't (or at least the last time I went there it didn't) have a lot of different options. The fish is fresh and the service is good but I would still recommend Fuji over In The Raw

Downhill after the edamame. We thought we would be in for a relatively tasty Tulsa sushi treat, but the edamame was the highlight of the meal. They were salty and had quite a spicy kick, which was refreshing. Then we ordered 4 different rolls and some nigiri. None of the rolls were decipherable from the other ones, and all of them were quite bland. If you've had good sushi before, I would skip this place or prepare to be disappointed.

Nomad is committed to sourcing and using all-organic products whenever possible and the result is a delicious, succinct menu of about 12 pizzas and a handful of artfully done salads using ingredients from several local farms. The owners hint that small plates and apps may be offered in the near future along with a seasonal pie addition, so be on the lookout for a new pizza or two in the coming warmer months.

Yuck!. Ummm yuck! I don't understand the hype of this place, the fish was dry and the rolls were uninspired. I can overlook bad service if the food is good, but I couldn't even get drunk enough (at the bar waiting and at the table) to even enjoy anything. Boring Sushi. I have never had a roll at In the Raw that was great. Everything is always just okay. The sushi is overpriced, you are paying for location and ambiance.

If you haven't tried sushi before, this place is probably a good start. The rolls are small and boring, so it is a good way to introduce yourself to sushi. Then you can graduate to better places like Yokozuna or Sushi Neko in OKC.

Skip in the Raw if you are a sushi fan.

AWFUL!. For anyone who has actually had REAL sushi, this place is a disaster.

Yea sure, its nice, clean, soft music, nice area... expensive whatever. The rolls are pathetic. And overpriced. The gyoza left something to be desired, and the wine selection was well alright it was decent I GUESS. For an upscale restaraunt, they really dropped the ball.

The service was impeccable, I will give them that. ONLY THAT. I guess growing up in a coastal town has its advantages, but it highly offends me that they pass of this "Chicken of the sea" as sushi.

Disaster!. My friends and I planned a dinner at ITR and we called in the afternoon to see if they took reservations because we were going to have 6 people. They told us they don't take reservations. When we showed up that evening, there were several empty tables although there was a wait list. We inquired, only to find out they were reserved. Imagine that. It is not that they don't take reservations; they were full, which they failed to tell us.

We waited almost 2 hours for a table (shame on us) while we watched empty tables stay empty for at least an hour. Once we were seated we were treated with poor service with the night ending with our waiter asking us to just give him our credit cards and tell him various amounts to put on each one as opposed to splitting the ticket up like any normal waiter would do.

On top of all that, I find their sushi and selections to be nothing but average. Definitely never going to the Brookside location again, I will visit the one at 61st and Sheridan, that is if I ever get a craving for mediocre sushi.

Employee meeting. Can't say anything about the food at this location, reason being they wouldn't open their door. Maybe this post will give their management a clue.

Wife and I arrived at their opening time to find a sign saying they would open after a meeting with employees. We could see people sitting around a table inside.

Since sushi is one of my favorites and we hadn't been here before, my wife and I waited about 30 minutes - much of it walking or standing outside the entrance.

Finally, we left for a competitor across the street. Would it have been too difficult to admit customers and offer a free glass of tea during the wait? Even better, hold the meeting earlier?

This happened a few months ago and I still get irritated every time I see this restaurants name. Not going back.

Good sushi on my side of town but skip the weekends. This place probably can be considered the one that started it all in Tulsa. So for that reason, I have to give a thumbs up. Some of the rolls that they invented are now standard fare at the other Tulsa spots. Seriously, go in anywhere and order a Dunwell or an Id or a Brookside in Tulsa, and they'll know what you want. Heck, most of the sushi chefs in Tulsa have worked here at some point, although that is starting to change.

The food is pretty good, smaller portioned sushi which is actually better for flavor (A Fuji roll is bigger? Well, that's because it's all rice and cucumber. Although, in fairness, I find myself at Fuji more than ITR.) Price isn't horrible, but it is higher than some. Atmosphere is a bit too trendy for my tastes, and I pretty much won't go there on a weekend night for all the hipsters and douchebags.

One last point, there is a big difference in size from the standard rolls ($6-9) and the larger rolls ($10-15.) One of those will usually do it for me. Get an large roll and an app and have a great meal for about $20.

Great sushi party. Probably the best sushi in town. It's not just the flavor, but it's the creativity the chefs put into the creation of each roll. The 6151 by far my favorite, or the Id, Nirvana and Ginger (not on the menu). They mix excellent drinks whether you fancy a flirtini, skinny girl margarita, or good old fashioned dirty martini, it's gonna be good. Service is excellent! It you're in the mood to go clubbing or party, this is the place. First date or family night, not so much. Music and atmosphere is loud...depends on your mood. Still highly recommended.

BEWARE! 20% Gratuity Added. In The Raw's gratuity policy is to automatically add a 20% tip to your bill for parties of 6 or more!!! I have worked in "the biz" for 10 years in many different settings, from fine dining to pubs, and have NEVER heard of "grat-ing" on groups of less that 8 and NEVER EVER seen 20%! I don't like being told what to tip... I am perfectly capable of figuring it myself. To top off this outrageous policy, our server never even told us it had been added. It wasn't circled on the checks or anything. (The menu does state this, but come on... when I get a menu I'm looking at the food not for policies printed in small font at the bottom of the page.) Because I have been a waitress I tip very well for exceptional service- 30%, averagely for average service- 20% and around 15% for mediocre service. If a server knows he or she is going to make a 20% tip no matter the level of service provided, what is the motivation to give excellent service? None. If I have truly bad service (as I did at ITR) I cannot express myself in the tip.

I am surprised an upscale restaurant in an upscale neighborhood such as Brookside would even have a gratuity policy. Nice restaurants just shouldn't do that to their guests, it is tacky and insulting.

Although ITR is and always has served good sushi... it is overpriced and merely average.

I won't be dining at In The Raw anymore. Their gratuity policy has put a very bitter taste in my mouth, one I'm afraid can't be remedied, not even if the food was amazing.

Far from impressed!. I'm seeing this trend in Tulsa sushi restaurants: incredible popularity with the easily impressed. My one experience with In The Raw was a birthday lunch for a co-worker. The sushi was adequate, some even good... but 2 1/2 hours later (from a one hour lunch window) I left $30 lighter for food and service that was mediocre.
I know, I know... it's a very popular place, but the beauty of sushi is that it is seaweed, rice and fish, all inexpensive ingredients and quick to prepare. I make it at home all the time.
Most restaurants can do something better than I can or I don't go there. So, regarding In The Raw... I won't.

Best steak and sushi. While my wife loves sushi, I am not a fan. She has gone to Fuji, Sushi Train, and others and claims ITR is the best. Surprisingly, the filet is probably the best in Tulsa. It's nice and thick, stuffed with cheese, and cooked to perfection. Also, the tempura vegetables are awesome as well as their desserts.

YUM!. I ate here for the first time while in Tulsa recently and I loved it! The service was friendly and very quick and the sushi was delicious! I was very pleasantly surprised, as I didn't think that sushi in the midwest would be very fresh or appetizing. I ordered the salmon sashimi, which was perfect and had just gotten off the plane. I also had the best shrimp tempura roll I have ever eaten and a wonderful California roll. I am definitely going to come back to In The Raw!!

Brookside=Big Hassle South=No Hassle. If you are accustomed to sushi from bigger cities, you'll find the food at this place to be very average. The yuppies and wanna-be yuppies are there, which is why it;s packed on a weekend in particular. It takes forever to get seated at the Brookside location, and service staff is pushed to the edge the whole time...if anything goes wrong you can expect it to take a long, long time to get fixed. Also, they won't split checks, etc...personal details seem unimportant to the operators of this place. If you want a table for more than 4, best of luck to you. If you're organizing a dinner for a birthday or special event, chances are high it will not go smoothly. All this makes it not worth the food you get. Instead, if you insist on Brookside dining go to KEO instead and get in quickly. Fuji on Brookside is also a subsitute. IOr drive out to ITR south at 61st and Sheridan. The menu is the same out there, service is faster and more reliable. At both ITR places, you pay for food but also for the atmosphere. Flying Fish (Bixby) and Yokozuna offer sushi that is better and more creative than either ITR. If you go to the south ITR location, order the Gateau cake (takes 15 min advance notice). Chocolate lava cake, cooked to order. Most incredible! Not available at the Brookside loc.

I think ITR Brookside consistently gets overrated because of the supposed "Hip-factor" (which means not squat to me when there's average food, generally poor service and the overall attitude of the establishment is that they're doing you a favor by letting you in the door). There are better sushi places where you also don't have to put up with the wannabes who still think they're in cliques in high school.

My husband and I love this place! I've lived in many metro cities and ITR is by far my favorite. If I ever had to move if would be at the top of my list for "Places I will miss". It almost warrants a trip back for the food!! Oh, the steak kicks @#%*!!!!!!!

Love ITR!. ITR is my favorite place to eat in T-Town! both locations are awesome! The ITR salad is awesome- large enough to split! The Volcano roll and Nirvana are amazing! To be honest there isn't anything on the menu that i don't like. Also for those who aren't crazy about the raw fish- the steak here is really good! Served with wasabi mashed potatoes and asparagus- so good!! One of the best steaks in town!

It was okay.. The waitstaff was okay. The sushi was okay. The atmosphere....okay. The rowdy table drinking lots of saki next to ours was rude. My favorite part of the meal was when one of the people at the table next to us, got up, ran outside, and vomited on the street right outside our window table. Classy.

Too trendy for their own good. Given them three chances, services is either rude or non-existent. Sushi is so-so but not worth the hassle. Given all good press this place gets, I'm kind of sad the wait-hag we had ruined it for mme.

Lacks flavor. All sushi rice is seasoned with vinegar, salt and sugar to be prepared properly. For some reason, every time I eat here the rice brings the flavor of everything else down with it making it bland and unappealing. If they could change this little, but very important feature of 90% of the menu items, it would be a good place to eat. Their selection is wide allowing those people who dislike the idea of eating raw fish a comfort zone while those who enjoy it, a reasonable place to eat. Non-sashimi eaters that want to impress a date with the size of their bill can order the "volcano roll". Everything is cooked and its dripping with sauce. It's posh, it's hip and it's not for everyone on Friday night.

Fantastic sushi. Trendy environment but well worth it even for a square like me. Good service. Don't forget to give your sushi chef a tip, too.

Best in Tulsa. Coming from Florida, I was dying for fresh, delicious sushi. In the Raw is hands down the best sushi you can find in Tulsa. It is quite pricey (and maybe even overpriced), but well worth the splurge.

Overrated!. This place has no doubt the best location in the heart of brookside, but their sushi is so overrated! Tsunami, downtown blows ITR away!

If you love sushi, and you haven't visited In The Raw , you're missing out! It's on the popular "Brookside" in Tulsa. With reasonable prices, and its dimly lit classy atmosphere, it's a great spot for a business lunch or dinner date. They offer valet park
