Wow.
This is an old-fashioned, mom and pop restaurant. The food was better than I have has in any Chinese restaurant in years. The simple, personal service of the owners should be the standard for all establishments.
Two of us dined here at 3 PM on a weekday. The owner, a smiling, elderly gentleman, greeted us, and seated us in one of the four booths. We were the only diners at that time of day.
This being our first visit, I asked the owner to serve us whatever he thought was good, rather than pick from the menu. He seemed delighted by that option.
First course was a won ton soup. I don't usually pick that, but this was hot, fresh, with a meat dumpling. Second was a fried egg roll. It was (temp wise) very hot, and crispy. It came with a saucer of sweet/sour sauce with a dollop of hot mustard.
Next came the best fried rice I have ever had. It was seasoned perfectly, and has chunks if tender beef, pork, chicken, and shrimp. Last was a platter of Mongolian beef, with beautiful red sweet peppers and just the right level of spicy. The next platter was a sweet sesame chicken, the perfect follow up to the spicy beef.
The owner encouraged us to eat slowly, stay, and enjoy.
He kept our hot tea pot full.
As we were finishing, he brought a cup of steamed white rice, so we could soak up the sauce still on the platters.
We were having an early dinner, with full service, and were treated like royalty.
Total cost got two, with tax, was under forty dollars.
Two caveats: Do not let the outer appearance of the building, or the much used inner furnishings give you any concerns. This is a diamond, finely polished, and gleaming, if you want good food. Second, they are old-fashioned, and take only cash. No cards.
In a few more years, small, pride-driven restaurants like this will vanish. Eat here now while you have the chance.

Very Very Good Chinese. I've been working In Valdosta for the past month and had a Chinese craving so I looked to the Urbanspoon for some direction. What Great direction it gave Me!!! Yes Ming's Chinese Restaurant looks bad from the street and doesn't get much better inside, but the food is the best Chinese food I've had in years. I ordered the Crab Wontongs and an Egg Roll, both were good and I would reorder when I return. Ordered the General Tso Chicken for my meal and thought it was the best I've had in years!! I assume the two folks working were the owners whom greeted me with good service, respect, and a smile. Thanks for a Great Meal Ming's and hope to come eat again very soon!

A gem. I must be honest. I was a little skeptical when it was suggested that I eat at Ming's. The outside of the building is less than desirable, conjuring up memories of the age-old urban myth involving a chinese restaurant and the mysterious disappearance of neighborhood cats. However, I caved and decided to order the beef with mixed vegetables, since I understand that they use dark meat chicken in the chicken dishes. The beef and vegetables were all cooked perfectly--unlike some other local Chinese places that cook the meat and veg until you cannot distinguish between the two. It wasn't seasoned all the well so it was a little bland, but I easily doctored it at home. I also tried a bite of my hubbs General Tso's chicken (hot style), and it was delicious--just enough spice. I will definitely keep this place in mind next time I'm in the need for Chinese food.

The Best In Town Period.. I have lived in Valdosta for 15 years and I have eaten at literally every Chinese restaurant here. Valdosta really has no great American style Chinese places, but I always considered Peking to be the best. Over the past few years however, their quality has gone way down, especially ever since they started using that yellow rice for their fried rice. So, I went on a quest to find a replacement. China Wok II is a pretty good replacement, but their quality varies. The last place I tried was Ming's and I am so sad I didn't try it 15 years ago. Nothing in Valdosta compares to it. The only reason I didn't try it along time ago was because it's the farthest from my house and looks really rundown. Well look past the dingy building because the food is great! Their moo shu pork, sesame chicken, and fried rice are all the best I've had from a Chinese place in Valdosta. I talked to the owner and she told me both her and the cook have worked there for 30 years. So please look past the dingy building and try the food. I doubt you will be disappointed. This will be the only Chinese place I eat at in Valdosta from now on unless their quality starts to decline. However, this probably won't happen considering they have been here for 30 years!

Food was very good. Lots of Military men and women coming in. So it shows that they loved it too.
