This place is awesome. Great staff and fantastic food. The freshness and quality are well worth a few dollars more. My children are light eaters and they devoured their meals (this never happens). After eating dinner on Monday we went for breakfast on the way out of town on Tuesday. After we tried the chicken, sausage and Virginia ham biscuits I went back for a bacon biscuit for us to split. I honestly can't pick my favorite.
You know what's good!
We had our 4th of July feast from BoBo's and it was absolutely delicious!!! The fried chicken is moist, beautifully brown, and just really really good. The side dishes are homemade goodness, fresh and wonderful. We had the succotash and the potato salad. The biscuits are also excellent. Homemade nuggets of delight! Our family loves BoBos and we are thrilled to have such an awesome spot close to home. (This was our sixth visit. The breakfast biscuits, chicken sandwich, salad with chicken are also wonderful!)
I should add that the ice cream is a treat beyond description so if you haven't tried it, you are honestly missing a delightful experience. My congratulations to this hard working family! Thank you!!
Super clean, nice, yummy and friendly!
We have been following this restaurant on Facebook for over a month so that they would have gotten their bearings before we came as they are a new restaurant. Yesterday's visit was way beyond our expectations! This restaurant is in the same building that was formerly famous as Charlie's Seafood, but it has gotten a super wonderful makeover and it makes perfect sense that it is on the corner of Shore Drive and Kleen Street; as we walked in we realized that it was immaculate and had I worked for the health department I would give them an A+. We were greeted as we entered the door by Terry, who absolutely must have been a cheerleader in another life. She was excited to join this restaurant when it opened because she knew the goals were to have wonderful local delicious foods and family recipes, and she was spot-on. She has been so happy here that she bragged about the high quality of all their ingredients, and I looked at their condiment Island which had Stevia, real butter, Dickinson's honey and jams. They have individually packaged containers of fresh squeezed OJ. They serve Red Rooster coffee and Coke products as well. They also have local draft beers on tap. I enjoyed a delicious chicken egg and cheese homemade biscuit, and the cheese was Cabot white cheddar. My husband chose the bacon egg and cheese biscuit which had unusual country bacon that is very thick and has arrived, and as he was born in the South, he thought he died and went to heaven. There are side dishes that are all home made, and I ordered all three of them so we could try them. They had a cucumber and tomato salad which is made with miniature cucumbers and heirloom tomatoes, which was good. They also have what they call grits cake which is grits with butter and white cheese, and although it wasn't for me, others like it. Also enjoy enjoyed their hash browns with onions. They make their ice cream from scratch and they gave me a taste of their dark chocolate ice cream that tasted so rich and creamy that it was like Belgian chocolate, and their cantaloupe ice cream which was made from ripe pureed local cantaloupes. As I left, they were making homemade peach ice cream for tomorrow!! Something else unique that they do is an ice cream sandwich, which is homemade biscuits, drenched in real butter, then baked a little longer, then served with your choice of ice cream in between and I am told it is to die for!
The restaurant was given a superior cleaning and makeover by its new boss, young Mr. Bo Midgett, who definitely is an old soul with high standards, and he put signs by the bathroom leftover from Charlie's restaurant as a local touch. His mother Kate also works there, and they have fresh hydrangeas and flowers from her garden on the counter and in the Ladies room! The flow is that you go to the counter and place your order, then it is brought to you at your table. Besides dine-in, they have put in a drive-through and they are open Mon-Sat 630am through 9pm. They proudly post a sign listing the local farms and places where your meal came from. I posted many pictures of place on my TripAdvisor review. In the background was soothing blues and some '50's music. The food is so good, I would have given BoBo's a 5 rating except you place your order at the counter, rather than with waitstaff. We left with smiles on our faces and sure will go back!
