Kookoo restaurant is an Authentic Persian restaurant in Columbia Heights, DC. The owner Yahya is the master chef. We were seated immediately and our server brought us bread and a dish of feta cheese, walnut and herbs. I really wish they had some Persian bread in the basket. We ordered drinks and appetizers. The appetizers were delicious. For main dish we ordered Khorramshahr Baghali and Gigot of Lamb. They were both superb. Prices are very reasonable. The owner is very friendly and stops by at all tables and talks to everyone. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I've been excited for this place to open for so long now, I couldn't believe it when I walked by and saw the door open! I had to visit the same night. I shared a few dishes with friends and they were all delicious - the bread with herbs and cheese they brought out was a wonderful touch, and the kashkeh bademjan was so good, I can't wait to have it again. The quality and presentation of the food were far better than my photos of it!

Surprisingly, the ambiance of this restaurant is really great despite being hidden among “less upscale looking” places on 14th street near the shopping mall center in ColumbiaHeights. This is my first time trying Iranian food and it great. A very attentive service from the moment you sit down.
