Stayed the night at Holiday Inn Express and was happy to find Gio’s and Hana just across the parking lot. I love the Chicago-style deep dish, but was looking for something lighter for the night. I should have realized “thin crust” in Chicago terms would mean “regular” in most terms. It was good, but I probably would have been more satisfied with the “extra thin”. I ordered online for curbside pickup and it was ready two minutes early, so that picked up the extra star.

The pizza is so good! Before we went I had read through some of the recent reviews which talked about people having to wait a long time for the pizza but our server did explain to us that the deep dish takes 30-40 minutes to cook so it wasn’t a surprise! The service was good and the pizza is well worth the wait!

I grew up outside of Chicago but have lived in Iowa for 20 years. I remember family trips to Giordano’s in Lake Zurich and how much of a treat it was to order deep dish pizza. When I heard that one was opening in West Des Moines I was skeptical that it would be able to match the experience I remembered as a kid. Since it’s opening I have ordered carry out a number of times. It’s just like those special dinners I always used to love. The quality is exactly as I remember. The price is very reasonable considering the shear volume of pizza that you get. This place offers authentic Chicago style deep dish, precisely as you can get it in the city. Love it. Keep up the good work.
