Flora West Hartford

My husband has been vegan for over a decade, West Hartford Center has tons of restaurant options. Until now despite the plethora of restaurants not a one had a great selection of plant based options. Thank you Flora for having the foresight to bring amazing plant based cuisine to the area. I’m neither vegetarian or vegan but I love great food. Flora elevated plant based dishes to a level not seen in these parts since Six Main in Chester closed their doors. Although they do have non vegetarian options available I opted to go plant based for our first visit. I was not disappointed. I started with a cocktail with aquafaba subbing for the egg whites in the El Segundo wonderful smoky mescal based cocktail with a hint of heat delish! We shared a smashed avocado appetizer. Light and fluffy avocado is piled atop bread grilled to perfection the tiniest hint of Doritos and other seasonings in the avocado making this the perfect starter. I opted for the bucatini and no meat balls entree. Just enough amazing “cream” sauce to perfectly coat the al dente pasta the “no meatballs” were flavorful with a great texture all in all a delicious dish. The portion is extremely generous I ate my fill and suspect what I took home will provide me a couple of lunches this week. I thought I made exceptional chocolate avocado pudding, then I tried Flora’s version. Theirs is amazing light and silky with an awesome dark chocolate flavor, I’m not a fan of bananas but they were nice enough to put the bananas on the side for me. Zoey provided us with excellent service, cheerful, knowledgeable and efficient could not ask for more. A welcome addition to the West Hartford dining scene can’t wait to go back.
