I don't know what happened, but there are several Pioneer Restaurants here and they're not all the same.  This restaurant is fairly new, well laid out, with the signature tabletop jukebox on the wall, very good homemade food including three meals a day, lunch specials, and signature TexMex and Chicken Fried Steak (which is very, very good).  Good food, good service, reasonable prices, clean, helpful, attentive staff.  This is my go-to place for visiting friends from out of town because they're consistently good and have homemade food and baked goods.

This place is a family favorite. We have always had good service and wonderful waitstaff who really get to know you and take good care of you. The food is always good hometown cooking. My husband from out of town just doesn't understand eating fries with enchiladas, but it is totally a thing! Order the fries extra crispy, because every one in a while they come out a little limp. But other than that, you pretty much can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

The hickory smoked chicken was PERFECT. It was the best piece of chicken Ive ever had from a restraunt. It was perfectly moist and quite savory, full of hickory flavor and unbelievable. The okra was just fried okra and the salad was just salad. Wish they offered spinach salads or mixed or something. Also service was not real great. Id say 3.5 stars on the service. I was glad to have stopped in during my travels but not a 5 star place, though great entrées.
