China Delight Winsted

Very happy to see how busy they were last night with so many take-out orders, however, it did effect ours in that one dinner in our bag was wrong, and after calling, I had a choice of a credit or driving back to get the dinner I ordered. Choosing the latter, the restaurant was still swamped, so it took some time to get my to-go meal. They also left out one of the two spring rolls ordered but I didn't want to wait for this, too. Everything was good, even though my meal was interrupted. The beef fried rice has always been a stand alone order and choosing it last night, we saw why. Worth the extra dollar plus. The Moo Shu Shrimp with four pancakes was worth the wait. The Sesame Shrimp we got by mistake, had too much coating and was $2.00 more than the item ordered. The fried chicken wings were smaller than they used to be, but are still crisp with a nice flavor. Good Chinese food. Expect Friday night's to be busy so order early, late or check your bag before you go! # Three combination meals ordered early Jan. which come with an egg roll and pork fried rice were all enjoyed - Kung Po chicken with peanuts, crispy orange chicken and shrimp and chicken combo. The sesame beef was tender and flavorful accompanied by requested brown rice which was better than most, but still brown rice. Two of the take-out dishes had their usual perfectly cooked broccoli and two had some that needed more cooking time. # Our take-out dinner here late October was good: wonton soup, two shrimp rolls, one egg roll and one shrimp roll, steamed vegetable dumplings, sweet and sour pork and their special menu dish "China Delight," like their name. The wonton soup here is always tasty, whether it's the regular or house special that comes with more ingredients, like chicken, shrimp, pork, mushrooms, broccoli and carrot. The steamed vegetable dumplings I started ordering when I read they were half as fattening as the traditional pork, but my partner found them a little bland and still prefers the pork. The varied egg rolls all got a thumbs up for texture and taste. The sweet and sour pork was plentiful with nice pork inside the fried toasty batter. I've been meaning to try their crispy duck, but was told there was no more duck today. I chose their China Delight with shrimp, chicken and scallops with dried mushroom in a garlic sauce. It was okay but I won't order it again when there are many things of theirs I prefer. The scallops were two tiny bay scallops I finally found in the dish. Some of the chicken was stringy and there were many vegetables in the mix that weren't mentioned on the menu. We did like the spicy sauce, however. Looking forward to trying the duck. # As someone who moved back to CT after many years in NY and CA, and moving to a rural area, I thought I wouldn't find good Chinese food again. I've always loved the food this restaurant has prepared for us and I wouldn't say so otherwise. They are really nice people, too. Over fifteen years, they left the addition of a requested egg in our fried rice out maybe twice? They happily put it in our next order free of charge when I mentioned it to them. Odd time now. Thanks for the delicious meal. Our egg rolls, spring roll, steamed pork dumplings, chicken tenders, house special fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, shrimp and chicken with broccoli were all great. When giving us our order, they said they were out of spring rolls, so they gave us three egg rolls. We were fine with this, but to our surprise, they also put in our bag perhaps the one spring roll they had left. Plus, they gave us a free soda. Very thoughtful.

This General Tso's Chicken is the best food in town.... I have been here many times, each year, it has become more ad more popular, and their taste has changed over time. Now it is much better than last time, each year, their taste changes, becoming better and better.... I love it
