Food was good have had more fun at others chef was not very active
Really great food, especially for the price. Here's the basics: The buffet spans in price (depending on day or the week and time of day) from $11.95-14.95, and every penny is worth it. If you'll give me a moment, I'll try to tell you why, and attempt to make it quick.
The food is excellent for these prices. I have paid double the cost of this and had easily had sushi that wasn't as good. The chefs at Sushi Chalet use fresh ingredients, have a large spread available (even to the lunch crowd, which is odd in sushi buffets) and take the time and effort to cover each plate of available sushi with plastic wrap to ensure that they stay clean and fresh. The hot bar is easily just as good. Their miso soup is a sort of "make your own" in which you can choose how much of each ingredient you'd like, This was fantastic for me since I love the tofu, and I could put as much as I'd like in. A last note on the food portion: the fried apple bite things are amazing and kept me from talking for a good twenty seconds due to bliss. They were fantastic, and I would go if only to eat those.
For those to whom customer service and attentiveness matter just as much, this place is great for this too. The owners, staff, and chefs are all pleasant and genuinely interested in making our stay in their restaurant as enjoyable as possible. Every time I got up to get a new plate from the sushi bar, my old one was whisked away promptly, without my seeing them clean the table. When I needed extra water after eating a particularly spicy roll, I put my glass on the edge of the table, and within 10 seconds, my waitress was there to fill it.
I know you probably think I'm stretching the truth on some of these, but they're completely accurate, and the last time I was in there, it was only my table there. This place, in my opinion, rates above the 50% mark when it comes to sushi in general. When it comes to cheap sushi that is also good, it would rate above 80%. The fact that it's available as an unlimited, all you can eat buffet puts it easily in my 95% and up range as far as sushi places go. I live in Cockeysville and gladly make the hour drive to eat here. I would recommend this to anyone who can appreciate or craves good quality versus low price.
Is it the best sushi I've had? Most definitely not. But for the cost, this place is great! They have a regular menu with sushi and other foods. The star of this place is the buffet. It's a very decent price for all you can eat decent sushi. You can't complain that it isn't award-winning because it's so worth the cost and is a buffet with a nice variety and all you can manage to eat! They also have a wide variety of a regular sushi menu that you can pay for the piece or roll if you want to try something too. If you like sushi, like good deals, and have a large appetite, I definitely recommend the Sushi Chalet.
My co-workers and I visit Sushi Chalet at least once a month. They have a buffet every day with a fairly large variety of sushi and they continue to make it all day, so it's always fresh. They have a nice hot bar and salad bar as well, but honestly I usually stick to the sushi. You can get a plate to go as well (paid by the pound) and pick you're own selection from the buffet.
This is some of the best sushi I've had. Passing by D.C., my wife and I decided to stop here. The sushi is delicious, not what you would find at other cheap buffets. The ingredients were really healthy too - I detected fresh, ripe avocado in at least 3 different types, and the whole grain sushi was great too. My favorite was the caterpillar sushi. They seem to go above and beyond what other sushi shops do. Recommended.
My girlfriend and I LOVE Sushi Chalet! They have affordable prices for a HUGE VARIETY of sushi. You basically pay the same price for a single roll elsewhere, but you can pick from a variety of atleast 15 different rolls. Also, the customer service is top notch.
I love this place! The food is really good and fresh. They offer a wide variety of sushi and have delicious non-sushi options as well. Great customer service and prices. To stop by is a must - at least once a month since we are from VA ;)
