This place is awesome! It is like a hidden gem, especially since it is across the street from Hickory Hollow! I've been going to Hickory Hollow all of my life but carriagehousecafe is my new home for Chicken Fried Steak (CFS)! I wish I had found out about this place sooner! They are also better, in my opinion, than Goodson's Cafe, which claims to have the best CFS! I promise you this CFS is tender, perfectly deep-fried, and smothered with just the right amount of gravy. Their banana pudding is also good and something I plan to order every time I eat here!! The chicken tenders are good, the stuffed potatoes are good, and they have hamburgers and BBQ as well, plus much more. What I love even more than the CFS, is the atmosphere. This place is all about Texas, Carriages, and Horses, and they literally have tons of antique furniture. It is a great place for anyone to eat at, whether eating alone, dining with a family, or eating with co-workers. It is also a great place to show off Texas to out-of-state visitors! I think they also host weddings and the like so I am sure that they can feed an army if needed. It is a neat place and I am glad that someone told me about it! You really need to try carriagehousecafe! You will not leave disappointed if you love Texas, and you love good food!!
Great food, at a great price, and an awesome place to kick off our spooky night before a haunted house :)
I recommend the burgers, they're amazing!
We live near this place and have seen great reviews. When we drove up, the parking lot was empty and we could only see chickens walking around. When we walked in, we were greeted by a ton of western decor. We went around the corner to the counter and a very kind lady greeted us. She helped us by telling us what they are most known for. We were the only customers in a HUGE place! The decor and music were awesome. Our service was fantastic. I got the chicken tenders and the breading was to die for. It was so light but so crispy all at the same time. My dad and husband got the chicken fried steak and they said it was one of the most tender ones they’d ever had. My mom got the BBQ baked potato and said she liked how the sauce was fresh and not mixed in to the meat. Because we went kind of early for dinner, it was kind of a ghost town, but people were showing up as we left. DEFINITELY a hidden gem!
