We love coming here for sushi. The staff is always so kind and courteous and the food is fantastic! We like to order lots of sashimi. The ambiance of the restaurant is lovely- I always notice what nice music they play. We went on a recent Thursday evening and I didn’t think to make a reservation. They almost didn’t have room for us. Make a reservation ahead of time!
So being Hapa, I feel like I have an unjustified authority about reviewing Japanese food. But full disclosure, I’m the only Asian I the world allergic to any type of tuna so take it with a grain of salt. I’m sure the sashimi is delicious!
But I’m kinda surprised that this place has been here for decades and I’ve finally tried it out. It’s such a great restaurant at pre-inflation pricing. There were no bad dishes here but the highlights were the seaweed salad and soft shell crab. Just an all around excellent Japanese cuisine.
Also it is white table cloth so show some respect and dress up a bit. It’s pretty pathetic seeing dudes in gym shorts and backwards hats which in Japanese we call that; yabanjing.
Desert Sushi 💯
Out in the Palm Desert, I did not have the highest expectations having visited the area previously
Musashi exceeds expectations and with a low-key dining room full with diners who appreciate and acknowledge quality sushi, delivers a great meal
The menu is broad without being excessive and everything we ordered hit the spot
The nigiri menu changes daily and though they were out of a few popular items like aji, the selection is indication enough of the authenticity
I also liked the sake selection and we enjoyed a quality Junmai Daiginjo in Kabuto

Overall good quality sashimi, soba noodles a bit soft.
Back again in 2022, soba is still too soft. Sushi rolls are good.
My family and I have been going here since I was little and it’s always a 10/10. Their sushi is so fresh and amazing also recommend the chilean sea bass special. Warm and welcoming staff, Masao is the head sushi chef and he is so talented and kind. Highly recommend!!
