Kale is a great little Japanese restaurant and is a short walk from the Saturday Market. The food here is simple and very tasty. They have 4 curry options, I tried two and was very impressed.
The restaurant is pretty small and very limited seating. Not very handicap accessible seating except for 1 or 2 seats.
When we went it was very busy and run solely by one worker and he did an excellent job and was very happy, helpful and friendly.
Good Japanese style curry. Great portion, neither too less or to much.
A great thing I like about this restaurant is its location or atmosphere. If you come here during sunset there’ll be plenty of natural light through the window, making your food bright and shiny.
The restaurant is so close to the metro rails, when the metro drives by the windows you can even feel the shaking of the rails. This suddenly makes me so nostalgic for the curry shops around the light rail stops in Osaka.
The employee was very friendly helpful and attentive. I had the Chicken Katsu w/ Chicken Kalé and a side of roasted vegetables.
The Chicken Katsu was done perfectly, and the Kalé sauce had a mild spice to it which was lovely. The rice was perfectly done. Vegetables were nicely roasted semi-firm and not mushy.
It is a small shop with only seating for about 20. I went about 2:45 pm on a Saturday and had no problem finding a seat. 100 percent recommended, the meal was filling without being too much.
Excellent authentic Japanese curry. I stopped by shortly before closing having heard that they specialize in Japanese curry and was not disappointed. I ordered the veggie curry and it was perfectly balanced (as all things should be) with warm spices, fluffy rice, and authentic pickled vegetables. Simple perfection. Quick and friendly service with very reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
Oh this place is so so good, I've only ever gotten the Katsu Kalé Doria with Baked Chicken, and will probably get it often in the future. It feels like such comfort food, it's really delicious. I liked mine with extra rice. Make sure to get the Japanese waffle ice creams for dessert, those are amazing as well. Make sure to visit this little hidden gem downtown.
